RANDOM/RANDOM × Comal translates the atmosphere of the Mexico City–inspired Forsyth Street restaurant into a limited collection built around photography, rare cotton, and the quiet details of everyday New York life.
The capsule features five photographs by New York–based artists Peter McCain and Marcelo Pena Costa. Rather than treating the restaurant as a campaign location, McCain and Costa moved through Comal as a guest might — observing its dining room, its regulars, its kitchen, and the details that would ordinarily disappear into the rhythm of service. Those images are printed across RANDOM/RANDOM garments, preserving one restaurant during one particular period of its life.
The value comes not from treating the restaurant as intellectual property, but from treating it as a subject. That distinction turns the collection from merchandise into something closer to documentary clothing.
