ALEXEY YURENEV

Alexey is an artist and visual researcher living and working in New York. He teaches at Columbia University and the International Center of Photography, and is the author of Seeing Against Seeing (Nooscope, 2025). His work explores memory, technology, and the production of knowledge.
Welcome to the Exit, in the artist's words: Odessa, Ukraine — the "big" Odessa — after two years photographing Brighton Beach, South Brooklyn's post-Soviet enclave known as Little Odessa. A place I had never been, yet somehow already knew. Over two years I walked 30 kilometers a day, nostalgic for images I had never seen before.
